Today was one of those days where the numbers were small, but the mental battle was massive.
⚔️ The Setup:
At 3:05 PM, I opened a textbook 2/7 DTE Double Calendar:
- Underlying: SPX @ 6492
- Strikes: 6445P / 6530C
- Short Expiry: Sep 10
- Long Expiry: Sep 15
- Net Debit: 26.60
- Contracts: 9
- Capital Deployed: $23,940
💡 The Plan:
Let the automation run. Hold overnight. Let theta decay work its magic.
😈 The Temptation:
But then… the position moved in my favor.
Barely 50 minutes later, I saw a clean +5.1% profit staring me in the face.
$1,210 in green.
And suddenly, the automation didn’t matter.
My brain screamed:
“Take the win. Lock it. You’ve seen losses. Why risk it?”
“You’re one click away from certainty.”
I hovered over the close button. My finger paused.
And then…
I clicked.
✅ The Result:
- Exit Time: 3:55 PM
- Credit Collected: 28.00
- Profit: +$1,210
- Return: +5.1%
🤯 The Reflection:
This wasn’t just a trade.
It was a psychological showdown.
Even after 57 days of discipline, tracking, journaling, and reflection…
the ghost of my past self — the one who used to overtrade, chase every candle, and max out buying power — still whispers in moments like this.
But I’m not that trader anymore. Not fully.
This challenge is reshaping me — trade by trade, decision by decision.
Today, I gave in.
Tomorrow, I’ll grow stronger.
And one day soon, I’ll let the automation ride, with full trust in the model.
Because that’s the journey.
And I’m all in for the long game. 🔥
