Day 81 — A Forced Trade and a Reminder on Discipline

Today was one of those days where I broke my own rule. There wasn’t a clean setup, but I put on a 9/23 Double Calendar anyway — a forced trade.

📉 Trade Summary

  • Opened: Thu, Oct 2, 2025 @ 9:39 AM ET
  • Underlying: SPX @ 6727
  • Lot Size: 3
  • Debit Paid: 63.60
  • Exit Credit: 63.80
  • P/L: +$43 (+0.2%)

Legs:

  • Short 6655 Put (Oct 13) @ 24.91
  • Short 6795 Call (Oct 13) @ 18.32
  • Long 6660 Put (Oct 27) @ 55.54
  • Long 6800 Call (Oct 27) @ 51.29

🧠 Reflection

The trade started poorly, dropping about –3% soon after entry. By the afternoon it recovered, and I closed out for a tiny gain. But the P/L is irrelevant here.

The real takeaway:

  • This trade shouldn’t have been placed at all.
  • After a string of wins, overconfidence crept in and made me ignore my system.
  • It’s a good reminder that discipline is more valuable than any single profit.

One of the hardest skills in trading isn’t knowing when to enter — it’s knowing when not to.

✍️ Closing Thought

Even though this ended green, I’m counting it as a lesson, not a win. The challenge is here to keep me accountable, and today highlighted exactly why documenting each day matters.
