🚫 Day 46: No Trade β€” Thursdays Not Worth the Risk

πŸ“… Thursday, August 28, 2025
πŸ“Œ Status: No trades opened
πŸ“‰ Reason: Long-term backtest results show poor performance on Thursdays

After reviewing my ongoing performance and conducting deeper backtests specific to 2/7 DTE double calendar entries on Thursdays, I’ve decided to sit out today.

πŸ“Š πŸ“‰ Thursday Performance Snapshot (Backtest Overview)

  • Strategy: 2/7 DTE double calendar
  • Trade Days: Thursdays only
  • Sample Size: 27 trades
  • Win Rate: 37%
  • CAGR: –69.3%
  • Max Drawdown: –55%
  • P/L: –$26,930
  • MAR Ratio: –1.3
  • Average P/L per Trade: –$132 / lot
  • Average Winner: $591 / lot
  • Average Loser: –$556 / lot
  • Max Winner: $2,511 / lot
  • Max Loser: –$959 / lot

πŸ“‰ The equity curve from the backtest tells the full story β€” drawdown after drawdown, with no sustainable recovery or edge on Thursdays.

🧠 Strategy Shift Going Forward

Skipping Thursday trades is now part of my plan to improve overall expectancy and reduce portfolio drawdowns. There’s no need to force setups on days where the data clearly shows negative edge.

Instead, I’ll remain focused on:

  • Monday/Tuesday double calendars (2/7 DTE)
  • Opportunistic Iron Butterflies
  • Tight intraday scalps with clear premium expansion

βœ… Recap

  • Day: 46
  • Trade Activity: None
  • Reason: Long-term backtest confirms Thursday underperformance
  • Goal: Preserve capital and allocate only to high-expectancy setups
